Surgical experience

I got my first pair of SuperFocus glasses almost two years ago, but didn’t start using them in earnest until maybe 8-10 months ago.  At first they were more of a novelty than something I’d use day to day.  I don’t remember what got me to start using them routinely, but when I did, everything got better, and quickly.

Maybe it was the need to keep adjusting focus that bothered me at first.  I’m pretty much of an optical perfectionist—if everything’s not crystal clear and sharp, I’m not happy.  I drove both of my ophthalmologists nuts with this—20/20 isn’t for me, it’s for other people.  I’ve never had less than 20/15 in either eye, and I didn’t want to start on that road now.  I do neurointerventional surgery, and clarity is critical.  When one of my surgeons helped me with a case, he finally understood this.

What SuperFocus gives me is my 20/15 or better at any distance, a feat I could only accomplish with regular glasses by having maybe 6 pairs of them.  Even I’m not that crazy.  And adjusting the focus as I work or live turns out to be a lot easier than I thought it would be.  Trying to adjust the focus of a regular pair of glasses while my first pair are being repaired just doesn’t work….
